Stefan Jaspers made headlines when he publicly opposed proposed Bitcoin SegWit2x fork of 2017. He viewed it as an attempt by small group of venture capitalists and corporate players to centralize Bitcoin. In his own words, the fork was ‘not an upgrade’ but an ‘attack’ of decentralization that Bitcoin symbolizes.

After revealing his identity in 2018 in an interview with Naomi Brockman TV, Stefan Jaspers began to actively engage in crypto related discussions and debates. He collaborated with prominent crypto personalities like Charlie Lee, Samson Mow and Riccardo Spagni to co-hosted a YouTube show Magical Crypto Friends.

Criticisms and Controversies

His frequent critiques of Ethereum and other blockchain projects fail to appreciate the fact that the crypto ecosystem is in the process of evolution and other projects, whether complimentary or competing, are essential for betterment and refinement of the crypto sphere.

Some critics have questioned whether his critiques of other projects stem from personal biases or investment preferences. His unequivocal support for Bitcoin maximalism has drawn criticisms from those advocating for a broader blockchain ecosystem.
